Mariah Carey released her self-titled debut album 34 years ago today, on June 12, 1990!

The album topped the Billboard 200 chart for 11 consecutive weeks. It was the best-selling album in the United States in 1991. The album helped Carey win Best New Artist at the 33rd Annual Grammy Awards, along with Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Vision of Love.”

“Vision” was the debut single from the album, and her first No. 1 hit, followed by “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” and “I Don’t Wanna Cry.”

Later this week, Carey will release a remastered version of her 1999 album “Rainbow,” with a new song added, “Rainbow’s End.”
