BREAKING: Tina Turner has passed away

The iconic "Queen of Rock and Roll" died peacefully at 83

A woman whose voice brought hope to so many others has passed away today: Tina Turner died at age 83 after a long illness in her home near Zurich, Switzerland.

She was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, in 1939.  Best known for her early work with Ike Turner and the Ikettes, and a 1980s comeback that brought MILLIONS to their feet, Turner’s contributions of songs like “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Private Dancer,” “Simply The Best,” and many more, made her a household name for generations.

And, her backstory of overcoming domestic abuse at the hands of Ike, her former husband, made her a TRUE SURVIVOR and an inspiration to others.

Tina is survived by four sons, her husband Erwin Bach, and legions of fans, including all of us here at Retro Pop Reunion.
