Ashton Kutcher, Reese Witherspoon…and The Cars?

It seems like a pretty textbook winner for a movie in 2023: Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon playing longtime friends in a “will they or won’t they” scenario that involves long-distance romances, a 13 year old son, fears of committment, a fling, and a little hockey to boot.

But one of the unexpected stars of the movie may be the soundtrack, highlighted by the hits of the late Ric Ocasek and The Cars.

While we’ll avoid giving away the “why The Cars are important” to the movie’s plotline, I’ll share; I’ve shared a couple of bands in a similar instance to Ashton’s character, Peter.  (Mine are Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Men At Work – and I have the original cassettes to prove it!)

If you haven’t watched it yet on Netflix, take it in sometime in the next couple weeks.

And perhaps more importantly – soak in some of The Cars while you’re at it – you won’t regret it!
